The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), has earned commendation from SERVICOM National Coordinator, Nnenna Akajemeli, for its exceptional service delivery.
The recognition was given during the presentation of SERVICOM Compliance Evaluation reports in Abuja on Monday.
SERVICOM, a Federal Government initiative, assesses service efficiency across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs), on a rating scale of zero to five stars.
While no MDA has achieved the top rating, NMDPRA’s performance was highlighted as a benchmark for excellence.
The report praised NMDPRA’s offices for various strengths: Abuja’s emergency responsiveness, Bayelsa’s proactive safety monitoring, Kano’s quality control efforts, and Lagos’s streamlined digital operations.
Akajemeli lauded NMDPRA’s progress but urged further improvements, citing challenges such as overlapping regulatory functions, reliance on third-party testing labs, and the absence of a staff reward system.
In response, NMDPRA Chief Executive Ahmed Farouk pledged to address these concerns with strategic measures, including quarterly business reviews, decentralized complaint systems, and enhanced ICT infrastructure across regional offices.
NMDPRA’s performance stands as a model for other regulatory bodies as SERVICOM continues its mission to improve public service delivery nationwide.
