Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, popularly known as ‘White Lion’ has threatened legal action against an online publication, Daily Excessive, for allegedly linking him to an attack on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In a statement issued by his media office on Monday, Bello’s spokesperson, Ohiare Michael, described the report as “mischievous” and “senseless,” asserting that it was fabricated to tarnish the former governor’s reputation and strain his relationship with President Tinubu.
“The report falsely attributed derogatory comments to Yahaya Bello about the President,” Michael stated.
He dismissed the claims as a “desperate attempt by detractors to discredit the former governor,” adding that the allegations lacked basis and intelligence.
The statement clarified that court proceedings involving Bello and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), are public and transparent, rendering any such fabricated accusations baseless.
Bello reaffirmed his loyalty to President Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC), emphasizing that such false reports would not deter his support for the party’s leadership.
