President Bola Tinubu has approved free nationwide train services for Nigerians from December 20, 2024, to January 5, 2025, to ease transportation costs during the festive season.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, announced the development while addressing State House correspondents in Abuja.
He emphasized the initiative’s alignment with the President’s commitment to supporting vulnerable citizens during high-traffic periods.
“As we did last year, there will be free train service to all Nigerians from December 20 up until January 5, free train service nationwide.
“This is consistent with the President’s desire to cushion the effect of transportation, especially for the most vulnerable Nigerians,” Idris stated.
Idris highlighted that similar measures were implemented during last year’s Christmas and Sallah celebrations, reinforcing the administration’s resolve to provide relief during major festivities.
The initiative will allow Nigerians to travel across the country without incurring transportation costs, offering a reprieve during the busy yuletide period.
