Solomon Dalung, Former Minister of Youth and Sports, has revealed the significant role of cabals in Nigerian governance, alleging that a powerful group seized control of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration shortly after his 2015 election victory.
In an interview on the Mic On Podcast on Sunday, Dalung described the cabals as a group of individuals appointed to assist in governance but who instead exploited the presidency for their personal gains.
He recounted his own experience following Buhari’s victory, recalling how he was blocked from entering the president’s residence, signaling the cabal’s takeover.
Dalung criticized the shift, stating that those who had supported Buhari were left unprotected as those with a better understanding of power took over the reins.
He further emphasized that the real power grabbers were not politicians or CPC loyalists but individuals who acted like “bandits,” hijacking the government for their benefit.
He also warned that the influential group had accumulated vast wealth and would continue to wield power.
Despite revealing these details, Dalung expressed no fear of retaliation, citing his survival of over 10 assassination attempts during his 40 years of political struggle
