The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has reduced the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), in Abuja from ₦1,060 to ₦1,040 per litre, effective Saturday.
A filling station attendant along the Kubwa expressway confirmed the ₦20 reduction, which has been welcomed by motorists.
Ezekiel Njoku, a driver, described it as a positive step, urging further price cuts.
While NNPCL outlets reflect the new price, other stations in Abuja continue selling petrol at up to ₦1,115 per litre, depending on location.
The price drop follows the November 2024 resumption of operations at the Port Harcourt refinery, which experts predict will ease fuel costs further.
Oil marketers and associations, including IPMAN and PETROAN, expect additional reductions with increased output from the Port Harcourt and Dangote refineries.
