Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, an APC chieftain in Osun State, has described Nigeria’s frequent grid collapses as a “national embarrassment” and called for an urgent investigation.
In a statement issued in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye decried the grid’s 12 failures this year, citing the severe economic impact on businesses.
He urged President Bola Tinubu to prioritize resolving the issue, warning that possible sabotage should be thoroughly probed.
“It’s alarming that a resource-rich nation continues to face persistent grid failures, damaging the economy and our global reputation,” he said.
Oyintiloye also called on Power Minister Adebayo Adelabu to appoint competent professionals to manage the sector and ensure accountability.
He emphasized that anyone undermining efforts to stabilize power supply must face consequences.
“This embarrassment must stop. The power sector needs systemic reforms to restore stability and support economic growth,” he added.
