The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has reassured Nigerians that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to tackling the nation’s challenges, particularly in the face of the current economic difficulties.
In a statement issued on December 14, 2024, Obasa emphasized that despite the tough year, the government’s efforts are focused on improving the nation’s situation.
“President Tinubu is tirelessly working to put smiles on our faces. Trust me, succour is coming,” Obasa stated during the Assembly’s 22nd Annual Thanksgiving Service, themed ‘The Voice of Mercy.’
Obasa urged Nigerians to remain hopeful as the country moves into 2025 with renewed vigor.
Reflecting on the nation’s challenges, he emphasized the importance of divine mercy in overcoming obstacles.
He encouraged citizens to show mercy to one another, drawing on biblical teachings to highlight God’s faithfulness and compassion.
At the event, Most Rev. Isaac Ayo Olawuyi, the Archbishop of the Methodist Church Nigeria (Lagos), called for mercy and unity among Nigerians.
He praised the Speaker for his leadership and partnership with other government sectors, ensuring Lagos remains stable.
The Archbishop also made a bold advocacy for the election of a Muslim governor in Lagos in 2027, stressing the importance of religious tolerance in the state.
“Lagos has had Christian governors for the past 12 years. It’s now time for a Muslim brother to govern us,” Olawuyi remarked, reinforcing the spirit of inclusivity and mutual respect in the state’s governance.
