Simon Ekpa, a leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is being held at Kylmäkoski Prison, Finland’s top-security facility known for housing violent and high-risk offenders.
Ekpa, along with four others, was arrested on charges of inciting violence and financing terrorism.
Finnish authorities allege he used social media to promote attacks on civilians and law enforcement in Southeast Nigeria.
Following his remand by the Päijät-Häme District Court, the Finnish government froze Ekpa’s assets and those of related companies.
Investigations are ongoing, with Finnish media confirming his detention in the notorious facility.
