The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has denied approving a product called Lung Detox Tea, which falsely claims to make smoking “healthy.” In a statement on December 14, 2024, NAFDAC’s Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, dismissed these claims as misleading and dangerous.

NAFDAC clarified it had rejected the product’s application due to a lack of scientific credibility. The denial follows a viral video falsely asserting the agency’s endorsement of the tea. Prof. Adeyeye urged the public to ignore such misinformation and report suspicious products through official channels.

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to consumer safety, emphasizing that only scientifically validated products gain approval.
