Kaduna State has emerged as the best-performing state in Primary Health Care (PHC), delivery in the northwest region, earning international recognition and a $500,000 cash prize.

The award was presented to Deputy Governor Dr. Hadiza Balarabe during a gala organized by the Nigerian Governors’ Forum at the Banquet Hall, Aso Villa, Abuja.

The achievement underscores Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to advancing the state’s healthcare sector.

“This award is more than financial recognition; it reflects the dedication of our health team in improving healthcare services for residents,” Dr. Balarabe remarked.

She emphasized that the prize will be reinvested to further strengthen primary healthcare delivery in the state.

The recognition is part of the PHC Leadership Challenge, an initiative launched in 2019 after the Seattle Declaration to encourage governors’ dedication to robust primary healthcare systems.

It is supported by the Nigerian Governors’ Forum and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

The cash prize will support ongoing initiatives aimed at improving access to quality healthcare across Kaduna State, setting a benchmark for the region.
