Niger State Governor, Mohammed Bago, has directed the Ministry of Works and Infrastructural Development to demolish structures obstructing the ongoing road expansion project in Minna. The directive specifically targets properties within 100 meters of the Niger State Transport Authority (NSTA) fence.

The governor issued the order during an unplanned inspection of the construction project on Saturday. The project spans from Tunga Market to other developing areas overseen by the CCECC Construction Company. Bago stressed the need to align with the government’s vision to transform Minna into a modern and aesthetic city.

Affected properties include residential houses, businesses, and prominent establishments such as the GT Bank branch in Tunga and the popular Ostrich Bakery. Governor Bago assured affected property owners that the government would develop a compensation plan while urging swift demolition to utilize the dry season for progress.

“All impacted buildings, including upstairs structures, will be demolished. We’ll ensure compensation is processed promptly, and shop owners will have adequate time to relocate their belongings,” Bago said.

The governor was accompanied by the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Bahago, government officials, CCECC representatives, and security personnel to ensure safety and order during the inspection. He reiterated his commitment to fast-tracking the road project and enhancing Minna’s development.
