Dr. George Ebong of Wuse District Hospital has been elected as the new President of the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), FCT chapter.
The announcement was made during a dinner and awards ceremony held in Abuja on Saturday. He will serve a two-year term.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Ebong pledged to address key issues affecting resident doctors, including salary arrears, manpower shortages, delayed payments, and poor working conditions.
He described the medical profession as “endangered” and called for urgent collective action to address these challenges.
Outgoing president, Dr. Olayinka Rahmah, thanked members for their support and praised their resilience in the face of professional challenges.
Dr. Ebong’s leadership is expected to focus on improving the welfare and working conditions of doctors in the FCT.
