The Ogun State Government has launched the sale of subsidized Federal Government rice in Ijebu-Ode, aimed at easing economic hardships in the Ogun East Senatorial District.

This initiative follows the flag-off by Governor Dapo Abiodun in Abeokuta, with plans to distribute the rice across all three senatorial districts.

Hamzat Abdulwasiu, from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, outlined the registration process, requiring residents to present their NIN and a loaded ATM card with N40,000.

Distribution of 50kg bags will occur within 48 to 72 hours, and only digital payments are accepted for efficiency.

Dr. Olusoji Adekoya, speaking for the Ogun State Government, reported smooth distribution in Ijebu-Ode, noting a high turnout and positive feedback.

The initiative, which runs for three weeks, has provided significant relief to households.

Beneficiaries, such as Mr. Bode Ayanbugajo, praised the scheme and called for additional measures to address the country’s socio-economic challenges.
