The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has cautioned Nigerians against using Deekins Amoxycillin 500mg capsules due to reports of severe adverse reactions linked to batch 4C639001.
NAFDAC Director-General, Mojisola Adeyeye, revealed that the affected batch, reportedly manufactured by Ecomed Pharma Limited and marketed by Devine Kings Pharmaceutical Limited, is under investigation.
Findings showed discrepancies, with only 20 packets produced for registration purposes, while 790 recalled packs were flagged as potentially substandard.
Samples have been sent for laboratory analysis, and NAFDAC is working with the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria to address the issue.
The public is advised to avoid the product and report adverse reactions or suspicions of fake medicines to NAFDAC via email at sf.alert@nafdac.gov.ng. Always purchase medications from licensed suppliers and verify their authenticity.
