On December 7, 2024, ten victims of human trafficking were rescued in Kano through a joint operation by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), and the Nigeria Police Force.
The victims, aged 22 to 42, were found in a house in Rijiyar Lemu Quarters, Kano, and were en route to Libya for labor exploitation.
The group included six females and four males from Delta, Edo, Osun, Ogun, and Lagos states.
NAPTIP’s zonal commander, Abdullahi Babale, praised the cooperation of police commissioner Salman Dogo-Garba and CSP Bala Shuaibu’s team.
The victims will receive counseling and rehabilitation before being reunited with their families. Babale urged parents to safeguard their children from trafficking and encouraged the public to report suspicious activities.
This operation underscores the importance of collaboration in the fight against human trafficking in Nigeria.
