Airtel Nigeria has partnered with Google to enhance home entertainment by integrating YouTube into its Smart Router.
Announced at Airtel’s Lagos headquarters, the collaboration aims to deliver seamless internet connectivity and digital entertainment to subscribers across Nigeria.
The upgraded Smart Router doubles as an internet router and a converter for analogue TVs, transforming them into smart TVs capable of streaming YouTube content.
Equipped with a dedicated YouTube button on its remote and an optimized operating system, it ensures a user-friendly experience.
Femi Oshinlaja, Airtel Nigeria’s Chief Commercial Officer, highlighted the partnership’s role in bridging Nigeria’s digital divide by offering affordable entertainment solutions.
Femi Adeniran, Director of Corporate Communications, added that it simplifies access to digital content, reinforcing Airtel’s commitment to innovation.
Priced at N25,000, the Smart Router includes unlimited data for 30 days, enabling families to stream movies, sports, music, and more. Google’s West Africa Director, Olumide Balogun, praised the initiative as a step toward digital inclusivity in Africa.
This collaboration is expected to make quality digital entertainment accessible to more Nigerian households.
