The Abia State Government has launched a three-month digital skills training programme for 1,500 youths from Isialangwa North and South Local Government Areas.
Held at the CBT Centre of Mbato Secondary School, Eziama Nvosi, the initiative aims to equip participants with skills in web development, digital arts, artificial intelligence, and data engineering to boost career prospects and drive innovation.
Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, Nwaobilor Ananaba, described the programme as essential for empowering youths with critical thinking, innovation, and career readiness.
In collaboration with #LearnFactory, the initiative seeks to open transformative opportunities for Abia youths.
The training, which began in Aba for Abia South participants, will extend to Abia North and cover all senatorial zones.
Commissioner for Science and Technology, David Kalu, urged trainees to leverage the skills to address local challenges, while a representative of Mayor Nnadozie Nwogwugwu highlighted its role in combating unemployment.
Governor Alex Otti’s commitment to youth empowerment was praised, alongside Senator Darlington Nwokocha’s provision of the ICT hub.
LearnFactory Nigeria CEO, Chibueze Ukaegbu, encouraged participants to maximize the training, assuring them of its competitive edge in the global digital economy.
The programme underscores Abia’s dedication to addressing unemployment and fostering sustainable growth.
