The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has honored OPay, a leading digital financial services provider, with the 2024 IFIC Award for Financial Inclusion Innovation.
The award, presented during the International Financial Inclusion Conference (IFIC), highlights OPay’s transformative role in bridging financial gaps and empowering millions of Nigerians through innovative solutions.
The conference, a premier gathering of global thought leaders and industry stakeholders, focused on strategies to accelerate financial inclusion across Africa.
OPay’s recognition underscores its pivotal contributions to achieving the CBN’s ambitious target of 95% financial inclusion by the end of 2024.
Selected through a rigorous evaluation process, OPay stood out for its regulatory compliance, technological innovation, and measurable customer impact.
The company’s secure and accessible digital platform has played a critical role in breaking barriers that previously hindered financial accessibility for underserved populations.
In a statement, OPay CEO Dauda Gotring expressed pride in the company’s achievement, noting, “This recognition by the CBN validates our commitment to delivering innovative, compliant, and inclusive financial solutions for all Nigerians.”
The conference also provided an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss pressing issues in the financial inclusion landscape, such as digital literacy and public-private sector collaboration.
As OPay continues to champion financial accessibility, it sets a benchmark for other industry players striving to empower Nigeria’s unbanked population.
