Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele has lauded the leadership of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, attributing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s peace of mind to Akpabio’s stewardship.
Bamidele made this remark on Monday during a gathering at Akpabio’s Abuja residence, where senators, political associates, and dignitaries converged to celebrate his 62nd birthday.
The impromptu event was graced by the management team of the National Assembly, led by the newly appointed Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana.
Others present included Kogi State Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, former Deputy Governor of Edo State Philip Shaibu, friends, and staff of the Office of the Senate President.
Sylvester Okonkwo, Akpabio’s Chief of Staff, presented birthday cards and gifts on behalf of the staff.
During his speech, Bamidele extolled Akpabio’s leadership qualities, emphasizing his significant role in ensuring stability in the Senate and earning the President’s trust.
“I know one of the reasons President Tinubu is able to sleep well is because he has you as the President of the Senate.
“He trusts you, depends on you, and takes your words very seriously,” Bamidele said.
The Senate Leader also noted that his colleagues are proud of Akpabio’s leadership.
“We are very proud of you and the kind of leadership you provide. On behalf of my colleagues, I want to thank you for who you are,” he added.
The celebration highlighted the confidence reposed in Akpabio by his peers and the presidency, marking his 62nd birthday as a moment of recognition for his impactful leadership.
