The Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has sealed a pivotal petrol purchase agreement with Dangote Refinery, setting the stage for seamless fuel availability during the festive season and beyond.
Announced on Friday, the deal follows a successful strategic meeting held at the refinery complex in Lagos. Led by PETROAN President Billy Gillis-Harry, the negotiations secured a buyer-seller relationship, a monthly fuel allocation for PETROAN members, and favorable payment terms.
Commending the refinery’s Vice President and Managing Director, Devakumar Edwin, Gillis-Harry praised Dangote Refinery’s commitment to ensuring consistent fuel supply nationwide. “This partnership is a game-changer, guaranteeing product availability and affordability for Nigerians,” he stated.
In the wake of the agreement, PETROAN reassured Nigerians of its readiness to avert fuel scarcity. “All our retail outlets across the country are on green alert to serve the public efficiently,” said National PRO Joseph Obele. The association dismissed panic-buying fears, cautioning against the unsafe storage of petroleum products at home.
This collaboration comes as Dangote Refinery recently reduced petrol prices from ₦990 to ₦970 per litre, a move aimed at addressing concerns raised by independent marketers about competitive pricing. With over 500 million litres of petrol in stock, the refinery is poised to strengthen Nigeria’s fuel supply chain.
PETROAN called on stakeholders to support the efforts of Dangote Refinery and NNPC Retail Ltd, emphasizing that the ultimate beneficiaries of this strategic partnership are the Nigerian people.
