Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has lauded the academic achievements of students supported by his administration to pursue higher education in India, describing their success as a testament to the transformative power of investing in education.

During a visit to Sharjah University in India, Governor Yusuf commended the students for their dedication and exceptional performance, which, according to him, exceeded expectations.

A statement by his spokesman, Sunusi Tofa, on Wednesday, highlighted the governor’s pride in the program’s impact, affirming that the scholarship funds were well-utilized.

“Their remarkable accomplishments demonstrate the importance of prioritizing education as a cornerstone for a prosperous Kano State,” Yusuf noted, reaffirming his administration’s unwavering commitment to nurturing young talent.

The visit provided the governor with an opportunity to interact directly with the first cohort of over 400 students sponsored under the 100:1 Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme in universities across India and Uganda.

Yusuf engaged the students to understand their challenges and gather insights to refine the program for future beneficiaries.

The governor also assessed the current state of the initiative, emphasizing plans to fully implement the scheme by the end of his first term.

The statement revealed that Yusuf’s visit served as a source of inspiration, encouraging students to strive for academic excellence both at home and abroad.
