Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has pledged full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s proposed Tax Reform Bills, citing their potential to transform Nigeria’s economy.
In a statement issued on Sunday by its Secretary-General, Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, the socio-cultural group confirmed that its endorsement followed detailed consultations and analysis of the reforms’ implications.
“We wholeheartedly support President Tinubu’s Tax Reform Bills after exhaustive reviews and engagements with stakeholders.
These reforms promise to revitalize Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and improve the welfare of Nigerian workers by addressing double taxation and fostering a fairer business environment,” Isiguzoro said.
The group emphasized the reforms’ importance in eradicating exploitative taxation practices by state governments and creating a conducive environment for local and foreign investments.
According to Ohanaeze, the Igbo community, known for its entrepreneurial drive, stands to gain significantly from measures that protect SMEs and encourage sustainable economic growth.
Ohanaeze also urged Southern legislators across party lines to support the bills in the National Assembly, calling for unity in advancing national economic and fiscal restructuring.
“Southern lawmakers must rally behind these reforms to secure a stronger, more equitable economy for all Nigerians,” the statement concluded.
