Catholic Bishop of Maiduguri, Most Rev. Oliver Dashe Doeme laid bare what he described as the “major enemy” of Christians: the devil, the world, and the flesh.

Bishop Dome made the description while delivering his homily during a dual celebration of priestly ordination and Consecration of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

The celebration witnessed the ordination of fourteen priests for the Catholic Archdioces of Abuja.

Drawing inspiration from Galatians 5:19-21, the Bishop emphasized that immorality, licentiousness, and similar vices are among the greatest threats to spiritual growth and salvation.

“Among these, the sins of the flesh are the most treacherous, often leading people to eternal damnation,” the Bishop warned.

He urged the newly ordained to embrace simplicity, humility, and devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, emphasizing the transformative power of Marian devotion in combating spiritual attacks and fostering inner peace.

Recounting a compelling story of a priest who experienced a miraculous turnaround through Marian intercession, Bishop Dome called on all believers to place their struggles before the Mother of God.

“Do not wait until trouble comes before you become a champion of Mary. Let her example guide you in purity and detachment from worldly ambitions,” he advised.

The Bishop’s message served as a clarion call for repentance, spiritual vigilance, and unwavering commitment to the faith amidst growing societal challenges.
