United Bank for Africa (UBA) has announced plans to launch full banking operations in France, following a business agreement signed with French Finance Minister Antoine Armand during Nigerian President Bola Tinubu’s state visit to France.
The agreement, attended by President Tinubu, French President Emmanuel Macron, and UBA Group Chairman Tony Elumelu, marks a significant expansion.
Elumelu emphasized that Paris will serve as UBA’s European hub, complementing London, New York, and Dubai in its global network.
The move strengthens UBA’s cross-border banking services between Africa and Europe.
This expansion is part of UBA’s strategy to provide seamless banking for African and European customers and solidifies its global footprint.
UBA becomes one of the few Nigerian tier-1 banks operating in France.
Tinubu’s visit, the first by a Nigerian leader to France in over 20 years, aims to deepen economic and diplomatic ties, with Macron warmly welcoming the Nigerian delegation, even sharing a message in Nigerian Pidgin on social media.
