The Kwara State Police Command has arrested two individuals linked to the theft of a Toyota Camry, which was stolen in Lagos and recovered in Ilorin.
The vehicle, registered as APP 443 CX, was discovered last Friday at a spare parts dealer’s shop in the Ipata-Oloje area of Ilorin after being stolen from a parking lot in Lagos.
According to Police Public Relations Officer, Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, the suspects, Gabiyu Lawal (43) and Ademola Waheed (45), were apprehended on November 22, 2024, following a tip-off from the dealer.
Upon inspecting the car, authorities found a phone number associated with the vehicle’s rightful owner, Mr. Ajibade Abel of Lagos, who confirmed the car had been reported stolen.
The suspects admitted to buying the car for a suspiciously low sum of ₦400,000 with plans to sell it for ₦1,000,000 in Ilorin.
Police investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the criminal network involved.
Kwara State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Victor Olaiya, commended the public for their vigilance and urged continued cooperation to ensure the safety of the state.
