Nigerian singer Darlington Okoye, better known as Speed Darlington or Akpi, has been arrested once again, just two months after his last release from custody.
The controversial artist was detained on Wednesday in Owerri while performing at a show, marking the latest in a series of run-ins with the law.
This arrest follows his previous detention in October, which stemmed from a viral video in which he allegedly mocked fellow artist Burna Boy’s ties to American rapper Diddy, amid Diddy’s legal troubles.
Speed Darlington, who was held for five days in October before being granted bail, has yet to offer any comment on the latest development.
His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the arrest on Facebook, stating, “Our client Speed Darlington, a.k.a AKPI, has been arrested by the Nigerian police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria.”
While the exact reasons behind the arrest remain unclear, it raises further questions about the singer’s turbulent relationship with the law.
Fans and onlookers await more details as the situation unfolds.
