The House of Representatives on Tuesday lauded Governor Umar Bago of Niger State for his significant contributions to the state’s agricultural development.

The recognition came during a personal explanation session led by Hon. Babajimi Benson, the Member representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency, who commended the Governor’s transformative impact on food security, both locally and nationally.

Benson praised Governor Bago for his commitment to agricultural growth, infrastructure development, and fostering religious harmony within the state.

He shared a noteworthy story of a military general from Cameroon, a Harvard graduate, who expressed admiration for Bago’s leadership despite no direct connection with him.

Adding his voice, Saidu Abdullahi, a lawmaker from Niger State, emphasized the importance of Bago’s agricultural initiatives, particularly his allocation of 250,000 hectares of land for sugarcane farming.

Abdullahi highlighted the potential of Niger State to become a key agricultural hub capable of meeting the nation’s food needs.

Abdullahi also commended Governor Bago for his inclusive governance approach, noting that the governor had provided cars to lawmakers regardless of their political party affiliations, reinforcing a spirit of unity and cooperation.
