Aco Estate businessman Richard T. Madubuike has accused the Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) Lugbe task force of harassment and extortion after goods worth thousands of naira were seized from his shop during a controversial operation in February 2024.
Madubuike claims the task force, led by Mr. Bawa, raided his shop without prior notice, confiscating items including motor oils, grease, brake pads, and filters. While some goods were later returned with the intervention of Deputy Director Mr. Bulus, many remain withheld, leaving Madubuike frustrated and questioning the legality of the operation.
“I was the only trader targeted,” he lamented, calling on authorities to ensure the swift return of his remaining goods.
Residents like Peter Innocent have also criticized the task force, accusing it of intimidation and extortion.
They’ve urged FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to investigate the Lugbe AEPB unit and address the growing concerns.
As calls for accountability grow, traders and residents demand reforms to end alleged abuses by the task force.
