In a historic breakthrough, the Port Harcourt Refinery has commenced operations, marking a significant step in Nigeria’s quest for energy independence and economic growth.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), made the announcement on Tuesday, November 26.
Describing the milestone, Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, said, “Today marks a monumental achievement for Nigeria as the Port Harcourt Refinery officially commences crude oil processing.
“This signifies a new era of energy independence and economic growth for our nation,” he said.
Soneye credited the success to the unwavering commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the NNPC Board, and Group CEO Mele Kyari.
The refinery’s activation is a game-changer for Nigeria, poised to significantly reduce fuel imports, boost domestic energy production, and reshape the country’s energy landscape.
This development is being celebrated as a transformative moment in the nation’s economic trajectory.
