The Coalition for PDP Unity has called on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), to zone its 2027 presidential ticket to the South, citing past electoral defeats as a result of ignoring the party’s power rotation principle.

Speaking in Abuja on Monday, the coalition’s national coordinator, Grema Muhammad, stressed the importance of unity and fairness in the party’s decision-making.

“The deviation from zoning eroded our influence in regions like the South-East. We cannot afford to repeat the same mistake in 2027,” Muhammad warned.

He urged PDP leaders to prioritize competence, integrity, and vision in selecting candidates, emphasizing that party unity must override personal ambitions.

“Every member must align their aspirations with the collective interest of the PDP. The ultimate goal is victory in the presidential election,” he said.

To advance its agenda, the coalition plans a nationwide campaign to mobilize support across all geopolitical zones.

This push comes as the PDP intensifies discussions on reforms and strategic planning ahead of the 2027 elections.
