The National Assembly has refuted viral reports claiming President Bola Tinubu will present the 2025 national budget on Wednesday.

Dr. Ali Umoru, Secretary of Research and Information, labeled the rumors as baseless, emphasizing that critical legislative processes for the budget presentation remain incomplete.

In a statement on Tuesday, Dr. Umoru clarified that the approval of the 2024-2026 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) is still pending, making a Wednesday presentation impossible.

He urged Nigerians to rely only on official National Assembly channels for credible information.

“Reports suggesting the 2025 budget presentation tomorrow are entirely false,” he said, warning against the spread of misinformation that undermines public trust.

As the Senate Committee on Finance continues deliberations with key government agencies to finalize the MTEF and FSP, the National Assembly reaffirmed its commitment to transparency and accountability in the budget process.

With anticipation mounting for the federal government’s fiscal roadmap, the clarification serves as a reminder to verify information amid the swirl of speculation.
