Tragedy struck in Benin City, Edo State, on November 16, when two innocent artisans, Osamudiamen Ehigie and Nosa Aghimie, were fatally mistaken for armed robbers by a mob.
The pair, returning from a worksite in the Amagba community around 6 p.m., were tragically attacked by residents who, fueled by fear and confusion, mistook them for criminals.
The artisans sought refuge in a nearby home, but panic led to a deadly confrontation before anyone could clear up the misunderstanding.
In a swift response, the police have arrested three suspects, but the families of the victims are calling for justice for the wrongful deaths of their loved ones.
The incident has left the community reeling, highlighting the dangerous consequences of mob violence fueled by misidentification.
