FHA Halts Construction in Gwarimpa, Apo/Guzape Over Violation

The Federal Housing Authority (FHA) has suspended all construction activities in its Gwarimpa and Apo/Guzape estates in Abuja, citing widespread violations of approved building plans and development regulations.

In a statement by FHA spokesperson Kenneth Chigelu, the decision aims to address structural deviations, illegal land encroachments, and the unauthorized conversion of residential properties for commercial use.

These issues, Chigelu noted, have disrupted residents and tarnished the integrity of the estates, particularly Gwarimpa, which is a significant national landmark.

“Restoring order and preserving the integrity of our estates is non-negotiable,” Chigelu said.

The FHA plans a thorough review of all building approvals to ensure compliance.

Until the review is completed, all ongoing and proposed construction in the estates remains suspended, with violators facing strict penalties.

This decisive action underscores the FHA’s commitment to maintaining order and safeguarding its estates nationwide.
