Yahaya Bello, the former Governor of Kogi State, appeared at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) office on Tuesday, marking another step in the agency’s ongoing investigation into allegations of financial mismanagement during his tenure.
Bello, accompanied by his legal team, arrived in a black Hilux vehicle, drawing attention as he personally drove to the EFCC headquarters.
This appearance follows the recent Supreme Court ruling affirming the legality of EFCC operations, effectively clearing obstacles for the commission to continue its probe.
Last week, speculation arose about his scheduled visit to the EFCC, but his media team remained silent on the matter.
In a related case, the EFCC had, on November 14, requested an adjournment during a hearing at the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja.
The commission cited the need for a 30-day period to address a summons issued earlier against Bello.
During the same proceedings, the EFCC granted administrative bail to Bello’s co-defendants, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu, while requesting additional time to secure Bello’s court appearance.
The case has been adjourned to November 27 for his arraignment.
