Helen Ukpabio, the Founder of Liberty Foundation Gospel Ministries, has filed a staggering N200 billion defamation claim against Nigerian singer, Emoseh Khamofu, popularly known as Bloody Civilian.

The legal action follows a series of controversial social media posts where the singer allegedly retweeted accusations branding Ukpabio as a child abuser who endorses harmful practices.

In a legal letter dated November 25, 2024, Ukpabio’s legal team described the accusations as “reckless, satanic, and libellous,” claiming they were intended to malign the pastor’s reputation.

The letter demanded an immediate retraction, a public apology, and the removal of all defamatory content.

“Take notice that in consideration of this wicked and libellous publication, we demand from you the sum of two hundred billion naira (N200,000,000,000) as damages for the distress, trauma, pain, and anguish caused to our client,” the letter read, giving Bloody Civilian one week to comply.

The pastor’s daughter, Imaobong Ukpabio, also threatened legal action, describing the allegations as baseless and harmful to their family’s image.

Ukpabio’s legal counsel argued that the claims about her involvement in child abuse and witch hunts have been disproven by Nigerian authorities and accused Bloody Civilian of deliberate character assassination.

The legal team insists on the publication of apologies across social media and in local and international media outlets.

Failure to meet the demands, they warned, could result in further legal actions with severe financial consequences.

The controversy has drawn widespread attention, with many awaiting the singer’s response and the potential legal showdown that could follow.
