The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to bolstering security in the South-East region during an operational visit to Enugu.
Meeting with military personnel, community leaders, and stakeholders, Abubakar underscored the importance of collaboration in tackling the region’s security challenges.
“Security is the cornerstone of development, and without it, businesses cannot thrive,” he stated, adding that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains resolute in eradicating insecurity.
The Minister assured residents that all relevant agencies have been directed to intensify their efforts to restore peace and stability to the region.
A local leader expressed optimism following the Minister’s visit, saying: “We are encouraged by the government’s focus on our security needs. It is reassuring to know that the Minister and President Tinubu are prioritizing our safety so that our businesses can flourish in a secure environment.”
Abubakar also toured critical military installations, including the Nigerian Air Force base in Enugu and key security units in Imo State, commending officers for their dedication and urging them to build on their successes.
“Your commitment is vital to the stability of this region,” he remarked.
The Defence Minister extended his appreciation to local leaders, including Governor Hope Uzodimma, for their support in fostering a secure environment and assured stakeholders of the government’s unwavering dedication to addressing the region’s security concerns.
