The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has rolled out a nationwide campaign to ensure airline passengers know their rights and to compel airlines to fulfill their obligations.

Speaking at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, NCAA Director General Chris Najomo emphasized the campaign’s goal to educate travelers and foster compliance with aviation rules.

“This campaign is about fairness—helping passengers understand their rights while ensuring airlines meet their duties,” Najomo said.

He outlined key passenger rights, including refreshments for delays exceeding two hours, full refunds within 14 days upon request, and accommodation for delays beyond four hours that require an overnight stay.

Airlines were also urged to communicate delays promptly via SMS or other channels to ease frustrations.

“No airline deliberately delays flights, but timely communication can alleviate passenger dissatisfaction,” Najomo added.

Najomo assured passengers of improved services during the festive season, highlighting the addition of new aircraft to fleets.

The awareness drive has already kicked off at Port Harcourt Airport and will expand to airports nationwide, equipping travelers with the knowledge to demand fair treatment.

This initiative underscores the NCAA’s commitment to enhancing passenger experiences and promoting accountability within Nigeria’s aviation sector.
