Sightsavers Nigeria has empowered 100 women with disabilities in Kano through a four-day entrepreneurial training program aimed at fostering self-reliance.

The event, held at the Murtala Mohammed Library, provided participants with essential business skills and start-up packages.

Anita Nchat Kelvin, Sightsavers’ Program Officer on Girls Education, stated that the initiative targets marginalized women with disabilities, equipping them to identify and sustain viable businesses.

“We surveyed their needs and designed this training to address their challenges,” she said, adding that the program plans to expand to 400 beneficiaries.

Start-up kits, including toothpaste, baby products, and cooking materials, were distributed in partnership with Unilever and GBF Growing Business Foundation.

Beneficiaries, including Fiddausi Mohammad Umar and Amina Jibrin Shuaibu, expressed gratitude for the support, lauding the initiative for its transformative impact.
