The Ogun State Government has discredited a fraudulent notice circulating on social media, claiming that the Bureau of State Pension is conducting a screening exercise for the next-of-kin of deceased pensioners.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Bureau’s Permanent Secretary, Arinola Adetayo, described the notice as unauthorized and misleading.

She clarified that the government follows a formal, established process for handling pension claims and disbursing benefits, which does not involve any screening by unknown individuals or third parties.

“The notice circulating on social media does not originate from any government office, department, or Bureau of State Pensions personnel,” Adetayo said.

“The Bureau is not associated with, nor endorses, the request made in the notice.”

Adetayo urged the public to disregard the fake notice and refrain from sharing personal information or documents in response to unauthorized requests.

She also advised anyone who had encountered the notice to contact the Bureau directly for clarification.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a transparent and secure process for pension claims and urged citizens to remain vigilant against scams or false information targeting vulnerable individuals.
