The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) has underscored the critical role of engineering in resolving Nigeria’s food security crisis and enhancing agricultural productivity.
Speaking during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Asset Rise Limited and Lancaster Farms in Abuja on Wednesday, NSE President Margaret Oguntala reaffirmed the society’s commitment to leveraging engineering innovations to address agricultural inefficiencies and generate employment.
“We are not just discussing food security; we are taking deliberate steps to provide practical engineering solutions.
“This partnership marks a milestone in putting more food on Nigerians’ tables and creating opportunities for young engineers,” Oguntala said.
The MoU is aligned with the theme of the NSE’s 2024 annual conference: Sustainable Engineering Solutions to Food Security and Climate Change.
It represents a strategic effort by the NSE to prioritize partnerships that advance agricultural innovations and foster economic growth.
Oguntala highlighted the transformative potential of the collaboration, stating, “This initiative demonstrates our dedication to addressing Nigeria’s most pressing challenges through engineering. Together, we aim to build a resilient agricultural sector that creates jobs and drives national development.”
The partnership reinforces the NSE’s focus on sustainable development and its resolve to ensure that engineering remains a cornerstone of Nigeria’s future, addressing both food security and climate resilience.
