Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has reunited 71 minors, detained during the #EndBadGovernance protest in August, with their families.

The handover ceremony, held at Muhammadu Buhari Hospital, saw the governor, represented by Chief of Staff Shehu Wada Sagagi, urge the minors to uphold the rule of law and avoid unlawful protests.

Governor Yusuf pledged to sponsor their education, while qualified individuals would be considered for employment in the next recruitment exercise.

Highlighting Kano’s commitment to education, Sagagi pointed to the 30% allocation to the sector in the 2025 proposed budget.

He directed the Ministry of Education to follow up on the minors’ reintegration and ensure their progress.

Parents expressed gratitude for the government’s intervention, with Malam Nura Muhammad thanking the state for its commitment.

UNICEF Chief of Field Office, Michael Banda, commended Kano’s leadership in prioritizing the rights and welfare of the children, calling the reunification a significant milestone.
