In a symbolic Children’s Day celebration, students in Jigawa State, supported by UNICEF, took over the State Assembly to advocate for child protection laws.
Led by their Speaker, Jamila Aliyu Abdulkadir, the young parliament deliberated on pressing issues, including child rights protection, improving girl-child education, and tackling the out-of-school children crisis in the state.
Addressing her peers, Abdulkadir called on the government, parents, and stakeholders to support children in achieving their dreams, emphasizing their role as the nation’s future leaders.
The session highlighted the urgent need for policies to secure a brighter future for Jigawa’s children.
