The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the death of 51-year-old Sunday Abidoye, whose body was discovered on Wednesday in a room at Creestar Hotel, located in the GRA area of Sagamu.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the command’s spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, provided details of the incident.

According to the statement, the hotel’s Chief Security Officer, Mr. Oluwole, reported the discovery of the deceased guest’s body to the police.

Upon receiving the report, a team of detectives was dispatched to the scene. The deceased’s body was found already placed in a car outside the hotel, as his family had prepared to transport it to the morgue.

The police learned from Abidoye’s brother, Jimoh Godday, a resident of Imota, Lagos, that the deceased had arrived in Nigeria from the United States on Saturday, November 16, 2024.

Godday recounted that on Monday, he visited the hotel and knocked on his brother’s door, Room 109, but received no response.

He then requested the manager’s assistance to unlock the door, whereupon he discovered his brother’s lifeless body.

SP Odutola revealed that photographs were taken at the scene, and several drugs and traditional medicines were found in the room.

Furthermore, the bed was soaked with a liquid-like substance. A friend of the deceased, Ogunmonti Ogunwole, disclosed that he had accompanied Abidoye the day before to purchase nine different types of medication, as the deceased had been complaining of illness.

The body has since been transported to the OOUTH Morgue in Sagamu for an autopsy.

The cause of death remains undetermined, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.
