President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has restructured the roles of two recently appointed officials within the State House media and communications team to enhance the government’s communication efficiency.
In a statement issued on Monday night by Bayo Onanuga, it was announced that Sunday Dare, initially designated as Special Adviser on Public Communication and National Orientation, will now serve as Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications.
Similarly, Daniel Bwala, who was last week named Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, has been reassigned as Special Adviser on Policy Communication.
“These appointments, along with the existing role of Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, underscore that there is no single individual spokesperson for the presidency,” the statement read.
The three advisers, Onanuga explained, will collectively act as spokespersons for the presidency, ensuring effective and consistent communication of government policies, decisions, and engagements.
“This approach aims to foster a cohesive communication strategy that aligns with the administration’s priorities and objectives,” the statement added.
Despite this clarification, Daniel Bwala took to his X account (formerly Twitter) on Monday to announce his role as a spokesperson.
“Today, I resumed officially as the Special Adviser, Media and Public Communications/Spokesperson (State House). I am happy to have joined a meeting of the robust and fantastic communication team of Mr. President. I love the existing unity among the team and hope we can leverage that for greater synergy,” Bwala wrote.
The redefinition of roles signals the administration’s commitment to a streamlined and unified communication strategy, reflecting its broader agenda of transparency and accountability.
