Social Commentator, Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as “Very Dark Man” (VDM), has lambasted the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Olanipekun Olukayode, over the agency’s failure to prosecute Former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello for alleged misappropriation of ₦110 billion.

In a video posted on his X account, Otse labeled the EFCC Chairman a “clown” and accused him of incompetence, referencing the agency’s April 18, 2024, announcement of an investigation into Belo’s case. Despite the magnitude of the case, Otse pointed out that no further updates or actions have been taken in over seven months.

“While the EFCC has arrested and convicted over 100 individuals for minor offenses, the value of those cases is nothing compared to the billions tied to Yahaya Bello,” Otse said.

He also criticized Olukayode for reneging on a public pledge to resign if Bello was not brought to justice.

Otse accused the EFCC of targeting youth while neglecting high-profile cases.

“Olukayode is the face of mediocrity in Africa. It’s shocking he still holds office despite such failures,” he stated.

The video has ignited debates online, with some users backing Otse’s bold critique and others defending the EFCC’s broader anti-corruption efforts. The EFCC is yet to respond to the allegations.
