The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has launched two state-of-the-art ATAK-129 fighter helicopters to bolster the fight against banditry in the Northwest.

At the commissioning ceremony in Katsina State, Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru expressed confidence that the end of banditry is within reach, citing recent military gains.

“These advanced helicopters are a game-changer, ensuring no adversary can escape justice,” Badaru stated.

The ATAK-129s, integrated into Operation Fansan Yamma Sector 2, boast superior maneuverability over traditional fighter jets, enabling targeted strikes on bandit hideouts.

The Minister praised the courage of military personnel whose efforts have already yielded positive outcomes, including the destruction of multiple bandit camps.

“Farmers are back on their land, children are returning to school, and businesses are thriving again,” he said.

Acknowledging the sacrifices of service members, Badaru pledged continued government support to enhance resources and welfare.

He urged close collaboration between air and ground forces to sustain the momentum against criminal elements threatening national peace.

With the new ATAK-129 helicopters and renewed military strategies, Badaru expressed optimism that Nigeria is on the brink of eradicating banditry, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to a secure and prosperous nation.
