The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has reopened the slip road connecting the Goodluck Jonathan Expressway to Ring Road II, at Galadimawa Roundabout.
The road had been barricaded since June 25th to mitigate flooding risks during the rainy season.
At the reopening ceremony, the Acting Director General of the Federal Capital Territory Emergency Management Department (FEMD), Engr. Abdulrahman Mohammed, said the decision was made following the end of the rainy season.
He emphasized that the measure, which has become an annual practice since 2020, has successfully prevented flood-related casualties.
“Every July, we close this road to control flooding. To the glory of God, no lives have been lost since we began this tradition of blocking the road during the rainy season,” Abdulrahman said.
Abdulrahman stated that the Department was consistent with barricading the slip road in order to save lives and properties.
“To the glory of God no life was lost since 2020 because we made it a tradition to block the road during the rainy season,” he said.
According to a statement issued by the Head, Public Affairs, FEMD, Nkechi Isa, FEMD boss also announced the commencement of the dry season campaign.
