Nigerian beauty queen Chidimma Adetshina has etched her name in history by becoming the first Nigerian to claim the first runner-up spot at the prestigious Miss Universe competition.

The 23-year-old dazzled judges at the 73rd edition of the global pageant, competing against over 120 contestants.

While Miss Denmark, Victoria Kjaer Theilvig, clinched the crown, Adetshina’s stellar performance outshone many, with Miss Mexico, María Fernanda Beltrán Figueroa, finishing in third place.

Contestants from Thailand and Venezuela rounded out the top five.

Adetshina’s remarkable achievement is Nigeria’s highest placement in Miss Universe history, earning her accolades as a trailblazer.

Despite facing online harassment and bullying tied to her Nigerian roots, her resilience and grace have sparked vital discussions on inclusivity in global pageantry.
