Ondo State police have arrested Prophetess Folashade Kikiowo Adekola following the tragic deaths of a 28-year-old woman, Jumoke Adesuwa, and her newborn child during childbirth at Adekola’s church.

Adesuwa, who had gone to the Christ Engracing Deliverance Ministry in Akure for “spiritual” support before delivery, reportedly stayed at the church for several days without her husband’s knowledge.

Despite her husband, Ayodele Adesuwa, providing funds for a government hospital delivery, Jumoke chose to remain at the church, where complications led to severe bleeding.

Her newborn died immediately, and although she was rushed to several hospitals, she was reportedly rejected due to her critical condition. She ultimately died at the final hospital that admitted her.

Adesuwa’s family, disturbed by the conditions of the church’s makeshift delivery setup, reported the case to the police, leading to Adekola’s arrest.

Police spokesperson Funmilayo Odunlami confirmed that Adekola is in custody while the investigation continues, with Adesuwa’s body taken to a mortuary for further procedures.
