The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has announced an expansion of its Abuja-Kaduna route operations, increasing weekday services from four to six trips.
This adjustment, effective Monday through Friday, aims to accommodate the rising passenger demand.
In a statement issued in Lagos on Wednesday, NRC’s Acting Managing Director, Ben Iloanusi, shared the news, with Yakub Mohmood, the Deputy Director of Public Relations at NRC, affirming the corporation’s commitment to improved services.
“Trend analysis over a five-month period shows a 22 percent increase in the number of new passengers registering on our ticket platform for the Abuja-Kaduna service,” Iloanusi said. “This surge reflects a growing preference among Nigerians for train travel as a comfortable, reliable, and safe commuting option.”
Iloanusi noted that similar growth trends have been observed on the Lagos-Ibadan, Warri-Itakpe, and Port Harcourt-Aba routes, with efforts underway to expand services on these lines as well.
The NRC has urged customers to use its official ticketing platform to access the increased services and avoid purchasing from unauthorized sellers.
